The show

An exhibition in Chiang Mai at MuMu Art House!  This is the major leagues!  Working with Garrett Kostin, Best Friend Library, and Detlev Neufert of MuMu Art House, we decide to show pictures from the beginning of the project in 2006 until our latest adventure in Sanghklaburi this year.

MuMu Art House is on Nimanhammen, soi 7, not far from the university, with a large falong population, restaurants, galleries, and shops.  The gallery itself is a lovely Thai house with silky wooden floors, a wrap around porch on the ground floor and a screened in porch upstairs.  The exhibition rooms are large, clean, and well lit.  And we can put nails in the walls!

Garrett and Detlev will handle the promotion;  they have chosen this image from Maymyo (Pyin Oo Lwin) 2010, by quiet Aung Latt as the poster. We wish he could be here to see this.

Hanging

On May 16 we get 6 boxes of photos, ourselves, our bikes, computers, labels, extra prints, and artist statements to Chiang Mai on the Green Bus for about $35.  In Chiang Mai, we flag down a songtaew ( pick up truck with benches running down 2 sides), go to the bus depot, pick up the boxes and head for MuMu Art House.

Once there, Detlev and his staff unload our boxes and we head for the Green Palace Hotel around the corner for a rest.  The hotel is big, green, and clean.  Our room has a small frig, TV, AC, and a view of Doi Suthep.  And the hot water works.

At Detlev's suggestion we have 2 of the images printed on large canvas for inside the gallery and 2 on vinyl to hang on the entrance gate.

Over 100 people came to see the photos, watch and listen to Shan dancing and music, have a glass of wine and some food, all under clear skies.  The rain gods were with us!

Garrett MC'd and Detlev welcomed everyone and then presented Nat with a birthday cake while the assembled sang Happy Birthday.  A lovely surprise!
